Layering for golf in Nordic weather

A round of golf in Scandinavia can hold four seasons. The answer is not more garments, but the right layers in the right order — and pieces that follow your swing instead of fighting it.

WINWIZE performance collection — layering for golf in Nordic weather

Layer 1: next to skin

Start with a technical polo or t-shirt that moves moisture away from the skin. Cotton holds sweat and turns cold in the wind; performance fabrics stay dry through the round.

The fit should be close but never tight across the shoulders. If you can take a full backswing without the fabric pulling, it fits.

Layer 2: warmth

A mid layer or a light cashmere knit earns its place from April to October. Cashmere insulates without bulk, which is exactly what you want under a half zip.

Choose a thin layer you can keep on all round over a thick one you remove at the third hole and then carry in the bag.

Layer 3: wind and rain

Nordic golf is about wind more often than downpours. A windproof outer layer with shoulder mobility matters more than a stiff rain jacket.

Finish with a cap and technical socks — those two details usually decide how the closing four holes feel.
